The Southern Tenant Folk Union was by Pat McGarvey (Banjo & Vocals) and supported by Oliver Talkes (guitar & Vocals), Pete Gow (guitar & Vocals), Roddy Neilson (violin & Vocals), Eamonn Flynn (mandoline & Vocals) and Matt Lloyd (bass & Vocals).
The sound of the band ranges between alternative folk and bluegrass with country- and gospel elements.
This style developed not at least esteblished by the long years of activity and publication of several albums by Pat McGarvey with the (Coal Porters(.
This and the cooperation with Peter Case, The Arlenes, Tandy, Amy Rigby, Ian Dunlop, Rosie Flores, Jason McNiff and Bob Neuwirth influenced Pat McGarvey and let him develop the exceptional sound of the Southern Tenant Folk Union.
The band already demonstrated their live qualities on a successful club tour through Germany in November 2008.
One perfect result of this tour was an interview with the Rolling Stone Magazin which will be released in the German January edition.
